Growing up with three older brothers, a healthy sense of competition was inevitably instilled in me at a very young age. My competitive environments have ranged from the kitchen table to claim the last morsel of food at family dinner; the golf course in my backyard for neighborhood games of manhunt; fields, swimming pools and courts as I attempted to play every sport offered by my high school; and venues across the country when I represented my home province of New Brunswick in both basketball and track & field.
When I eased out of my elite athlete status, I began to appreciate all the perks of sport that didn’t necessarily earn me a first place finish or a spot on a team. Ive learned to maintain my health, competitive edge and social life through recreational sports and races. As a lover of challenge, variety, and community, I was instantly hooked on Surfset after my first few classes – and knew right away I wanted to be part of the team who could always bring a smile and several beads of sweat to my face. My passion for teamwork, plyometrics and bad jokes will challenge you to change your mind about how great puns are, how high you can jump, and how many burpees you can do.
Proving to my boyfriend I’m a better cook than he is; pretending my roommate’s dog is mine on long walks to the coffee shop; participating in activities with girlfriends to justify our love of carb-loading; drinking green juice; and always trying to be in bed before the sun goes down so I can wake up before it rises.
